The Opportunity

This is a full-time, pivotal R&D role for a scientist who will lead research on microbial metabolites derived from probiotics and gut microbiota at AceBiome's R&D Center based in Daejeon, South Korea. You will drive mechanistic studies, generate and interpret high-quality metabolomics data, and strengthen scientific substantiation for functional ingredients and regulatory documentation. This role offers strong autonomy, cross-functional collaboration, and opportunities to work with global academic and industry partners.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead research strategy and execution for microbial metabolites from probiotics and gut microbiota
• Profile, quantify, and biologically interpret diverse metabolites (fatty acids, bile acids, tryptophan metabolites, polyamines, etc.)
• Design and execute in vitro / in vivo studies evaluating metabolite production and functionality
• Generate and interpret metabolomics datasets using LC-/GC-based platforms
• Elucidate mechanisms of action (MoA) for microbiome-based functional ingredients
• Support robust scientific/regulatory documentation for functional claims and submissions
• Ability to work on-site in Daejeon, South Korea
• Produce manuscripts, patents, reports, and presentations to disseminate findings and IP

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Microbiology, Life Sciences, Food Science, Biochemistry, Pharmacy, or related field
• 2+ years of postdoctoral experience (or equivalent industry/research institute experience) after Ph.D.
• Essential: deep expertise and hands-on experience in microbial metabolite research (gut microbiota or probiotics)
• Experience analyzing multiple classes of microbial metabolites
• Experience in functional foods—preferably probiotics
• Ability to independently design experiments and critically analyze complex datasets

Preferred Qualifications

• Industry R&D experience (functional foods, biotech, pharma)
• Multi-omics integration (genomics / transcriptomics / proteomics) and statistical analysis
• MoA studies using clinical trial samples and/or animal models
• Experience substantiating probiotic functional claims and supporting regulatory submissions (e.g. MFDS; global frameworks)
• Strong cross-functional collaboration track record (R&D, product development, clinical)
• Fluency in English for global scientic communication and publications is required; additional proficency in Korean is a plus

본 포지션은 AceBiome R&D의 핵심 축인 마이크로바이옴 & 미생물 메타볼라이트 연구를 주도합니다. 프로바이오틱스 및 장내미생물 유래 대사산물의 기전 연구 및 첨단 분석 기반 메타볼라이트 프로파일링, 기능성 소재의 과학적 근거 확보 및 검증을 수행합니다. 연구 결과가 실제 제품과 인류 건강으로 이어지는 산업 중심 R&D 환경에서 글로벌 협업을 통해 연구 역량과 전문성을 확장할 수 있습니다.

주요 업무(Key Responsibilities)

• 프로바이오틱스 및 장내미생물 유래 미생물 메타볼라이트 연구/분석 전략 수립 및 수행
• 지방산, 담즙산, 트립토판 대사체, 폴리아민 등 다양한 대사산물의 프로파일링·정량 분석·생물학적 해석 리드
• In vitro / In vivo 모델 기반 대사산물 생성 및 기능성 평가 연구 설계·수행
• LC/GC 기반 메타볼로믹스 데이터 생산 및 정밀 해석(quality 중심)
• 프로바이오틱스/마이크로바이옴 기반 기능성 소재의 핵심 작용기전(MoA) 규명
• 건강기능식품 인허가를 위한 과학적 근거(기능성/기전) 확보 및 문서화 지원
• 내부 유관부서 및 외부(학계/산업)와의 공동 연구 과제 기획 및 수행
• 논문/특허/학술 보고서 등 성과 창출을 위한 문서 작성 및 발표

자격 요건(Qualifications)

• 미생물학/생명과학/식품과학/약학/생화학 등 관련 분야 박사 학위
• 박사 후 2년 이상 포닥 또는 동등 수준의 산업체/연구기관 경력
• 장내미생물 또는 프로바이오틱스 유래 미생물 대사산물 연구 경험(필수)
• 다양한 미생물 대사체 분석·해석 경험
• 건강기능식품(특히 프로바이오틱스) 관련 연구 경험
• 실험 설계부터 데이터 분석/해석까지 독립적 연구 수행 역량
